Day 2- It was the best of times, it was the worst of times

Let’s start with the best of times.

Today we took a train and 2 buses(all on our own!) to a fabulous mountain playground called Atzmannig. It was a hot one, but what an incredible day.

It started with Bel, Lil and Mel spending 3 hours on a high ropes and zip lining course.  Some of the obstacles were quite challenging like riding a skateboard hanging over 3o ft in the air rather than a normal zip line, a free fall where you just had to step off the platform and let gravity do its thing(plus a gentle pulley system).  It was an amazing 3 hours.  Matt forgot tennis shoes, otherwise he would have been up in the trees.  Charlie had a great time though climbing big rocks and rumbling beneath us in the forest.

We ate a quick lunch of peanut butter sandwiches then headed over to the other half of the park

Where they had mountain toboggan run which you had to take a chair lift to get to start

They had all sorts of other stuff to do.

See Lily doing flips on a trampoline

Or Mel being launched in a jet boat

Charlie had fun after nap too

It was a great day in the mountains

….And then we got back to Zurich to find the apartment door crow-barred and broken into.

It seems like they were looking for money(which there was none) because they left the ipads, computer, etc.  So nothing stolen.  But a visit from the police and a new door made it a not so pleasant evening.  We decided to eat Burger King for comfort food, stop at the grocery store for bananas and yogurt and hit the hay.  Crazy enough, Matt and I have spent time in a police station before, but that was in Chile.

It’s National Swiss Day tomorrow, parades and fun to be had.  We hope its an only fun day

  1. Oh good grief! So much fun and then to end it with feeling violated. Hope the rest of your vacation is all fun! No more police please! Love you all!

  2. Oh my goodness!! I thought of our police encounter in Chile too. What bad luck and scary being where you slept and glad nothing stolen! Looks like your day activity in the mountain was amazing, awesome pics and videos. I love seeing the family shots, you are all so adorable!
