Barcelona Orientation

We left Minneapolis at 3:15pm on Wednesday January 16th and arrived in Barcelona on Thursday at noon after a 3 hour layover in Amsterdam. No issues with our travels, other than very limited sleep on the plane.

We easily navigated the Barcelona airport and found our Uber driver for a 30 minute ride into downtown Barcelona. Our hotel is cute trendy boutique hotel called the Room Mate Gerard, seems to be a perfect location in the heart of downtown. We decided we needed a nap before heading out into the city. After a couple hours of needed rest, we started to get our bearings by walking to the famous landmarks within walking distance of the hotel.

“Stepping into the map” before we head out the door. We tried our best to not look completely lost, but one nice old women stopped us to confirm we were going in the right direction
Our first Gaudi architecture: Case Batllo
La Pedrera- Our 2nd Gaudi site
La Sagrada Familia- the first of probably many times we will be visiting this magnificeng cathedral. Our 3rd Gaudi site, groundbreaking was in 1882 and it is still under construction.

We also tried to get into La Monumental- the last bull-fighting arena in Spain, but we arrived 20 minutes before closing so we decided to visit another day.

We ended the evening with tapas (including the Spanish speciality- Patatas Bravas, super delicious) and burgers.

Time to get some rest for our bike tour in the morning.
