Lady Liberty, Hamilton and The Prom

The morning started about the same as yesterday, Matt and Charlie out exploring early while the rest of us woke up. We met in Times Square to hop on the Big Bus that was included in our New York Pass. We went through Midtown to Downtown Manhattan ending up at Battery Park. When we got our tickets to the ferry we didnt realize the HUGE line that we had to wait through. I can’t imagine what that line is like during peak season. It was a cold but sunny wait to get on the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. We arrived and did a quick and windy tour of Lady Liberty before boarding another ferry to Ellis Island. There we did the Ellis Island experience audio tour and took the 45 minute version of what it would be like as a new immigrant in 1910.

It was already 2 pm by the time we got back to Battery Park, so it was a quick lunch from a hot dog stand or Subway before we headed to Trinity Church (first built in 1697) for our Hamilton walking tour. It was a tour of the financial district with Hamilton stories thrown in for the super fans. It was an ok tour- more cool sites that neither Matt or I have seen before. Charles slept through the entire 2 hour tour- that kid is a champion stroller sleeper!

After the tour we tried to hop on the Big Bus back to Midtown but we waited for 2 buses in which 2 people got picked up out of 20+ standing in line. It was time to take the subway so we could get some dinner and then get to our show!

The plan was to go to the TKTS ticket booth for same day tickets, but that wouldn’t have worked with our schedule so well. Luckily we got a tip that there is an app called TodaysTix that gives really good discounts on same day tickets, but they bring you your tickets to the theater rather than standing in line. NICE! We didn’t think Charles was up for a Broadway show so Matt sacrificed and stayed with Charlie while the girls went to see The Prom. Super funny, tons of dance numbers, a great Broadway show. Another fabulous day in NYC! We head south to DC with a stop in Phili after another fun fulled NYC morning.
